What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor Recreation Assistant position at Lorain County Metropolitan Park District?
Description
The Outdoor Aquatics Assistant will assist with planning and facilitating a wide variety outdoor recreation recreational programs that highlight: on-water and paddlecraft, archery, biking, hiking, survival skills, summer camps, and larger scale outdoor events held at various on and off-site locations throughout the spring, summer, fall, and winter seasons. The staff person within this position will also perform various administrative tasks, as well as equipment repair, transportation, and maintenance. Paddling experience is a plus (but not required).
Temporary
Pay Rate: $10.70 to $15 per hour, commensurate with employee experience.
Temporary employees can work more than 6 months and up to 28 hours per week.
Requirements
By the end of the season, the staff person in this position will gain a tremendous amount of experience working with boating participants of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. There is also the opportunity to gain experience working with several types of boats and boating equipment.
- Boating and trailering experience preferred.
- CPR/First Aid required.
- Applicants are required to possess the Ohio Boating Education Course certification or be available to complete the course before the beginning of the season.
- Weekend and evening hours will be required.
- Applicants must be able to lift 60 pounds.
- Work outdoors during various weather conditions (heat, rain, etc).
- Other duties as apparent or assigned.
Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license. New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
