GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Accounts Payable Intern will assist the Accounts Payable team with the supplier invoice payment process and provide a variety of assistance to all other areas within the Accounting department as required. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supports and assists the Accounts Payable area throughout the process of supplier invoices. Duties include:

• Processes invoices, which includes matching invoices to appropriate purchase orders and receipts. 
• Reconciles and resolves vendor statements and open receipts.
• Prepares and enters month end accruals and other various journal entries.
• Completes and assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Experience: 1 years related experience or training 

Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of various PC based computer software packages including financial spreadsheets and word processing. Intermediate Excel.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
• The applicant will have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute ratios and percent’s.
• Ability to correctly make decisions involving client issues/ problems including when to escalate the problem to a more senior consultant.
