Job Title: North American Environmental Health & Safety Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:
This position is primarily responsible for managing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs for the North American manufacturing workforce. They will lead the EHS manufacturing specialist team and focus on the development and implementation of goals and initiatives to support the execution of the of the department’s larger strategies.
This role is a pivotal business partner that fosters a safe and productive working environment by delivering unrivaled customer service through measurement of performance, engagement, and compliance towards regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Leadership and Talent Development
- Establish key business partnerships with internal and external stake holders.
- Manage the EHS Specialist team on day-to-day operations to ensure continuity of compliance associated with their relevant locations.
- Responsible for hiring, on-boarding, mentoring, and continually assessing competence of the EHS Specialist team.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating local emergency response teams (ERT).
Strategic & Functional
- Work closely with the global EHS team to leverage, understand, and improve the EHS department’s usage of current and future software systems regarding data analytics, reporting, and dashboarding.
- Participate in the development of EHS strategies associated with NA manufacturing. Providing specific insight to and management of projects, goals, and initiatives as they relate to the larger department strategy.
Functional & Technical
- Manage the compilation, analysis, interpretation, and delivery of relevant EHS data to internal and external stakeholders within the NA manufacturing business units.
- Manage the incident reporting process for EHS related incidents, ensuring the identification of causal factors and development of preventative/corrective action plans for the NA manufacturing business units.
Compliance
- Maintain knowledge of corporate EHS regulatory requirements and responsibilities associated to the manufacturing business units.
- Work with global EHS team to interpret new and existing regulations to drive effective management and compliance to internal and external rules, regulations, and other requirements that effect the enterprise.
- Develop and integrate policy, process, and procedures into relevant manufacturing management systems with specific focus on establishing audit plans to monitor compliance status.
- Manage the submission and development of reports and documents to ensure compliance with internal and external EHS requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety or Environmental Engineering, or comparable science.
Experience: 5 years of progressive experience managing EHS programs and 3 year of direct leadership experience.
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to work with others through complex situations.
- Excellent decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and Maintain Railroad Certifications
*Or 9 years combination of experience and education in Environmental Health & Safety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety.
Licenses/Certifications: Certifications from accredited EHS organizations; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
Starting pay for the position is between $94,539. - $118,174.
