Pet Sitter/Dog Walker

Job Summary
We are seeking a local dedicated and passionate Animal Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be moving to or already living in SWFL; Candidate will have a strong background in animal care and training, with the ability to work with dogs. This role involves developing training programs, providing behavioral assessments, and ensuring the overall well-being of the animals in our care as well as traveling from home to home to provide training. The district that needs coverage is Marco Island, Naples, Bonita, Estero and Fort Myers. The Animal Trainer will play a crucial role in enhancing the relationship between animals and their owners through effective training techniques. Bilingual is a plus.

Duties

• Willing to travel between Cape Coral, Punta Gorda and Fort Myers Locations
• Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual animal needs.
• Conduct behavioral assessments to identify specific training requirements.
• Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to train animals in obedience, and specialized tasks.
• Provide guidance to pet owners on proper handling and training methods.
• Maintain accurate records of each animal’s progress and behavior with company app.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all animals and handlers under care.
• Participate in educational workshops or community outreach programs to promote responsible pet ownership.
• Must be willing to travel.
• Must own your own vehicle and have a driver's license.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of pet care practices.
• Experience as a veterinary technician, dog walker and trainer are preferred.
• Proficiency in dog training methodologies and equine handling is preferred but not required.
• Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and effective communication skills when working with animals and their owners.
• Capability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of animal training.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily/nightly care for pets, including feeding, walking, and administering medication as needed.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of pets in your care by maintaining a clean and secure environment.
• Engage with pets through playtime and companionship to promote their mental well-being.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's behavior, health, and any concerns that may arise through company app.
• Perform basic grooming tasks as required, such as brushing fur or cleaning paws.
• Maintain accurate records of pet care routines and any incidents that occur during your time with the animals through company app.

Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience in pet sitting or animal care, vet tech or dog walker is preferred.
• Knowledge of animal handling techniques is preffered.
• Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their needs.
• A smartphone is required.
• Experience with equine care or veterinary assistance is beneficial but not required.
• A background in dog training or other animal training methods is beneficial.
