Job Summary
The Police Officer is a vital member of the law enforcement team, responsible for maintaining public safety and order within the community. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, enforcing laws, certified ordinances and engaging with the community to foster trust and cooperation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to serving the public with integrity.
Duties
- Patrol designated areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations of crimes, accidents, and other incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations.
- Enforce laws and regulations while ensuring the rights of individuals are upheld.
- Engage in community policing efforts to build positive relationships with residents.
- Manage conflicts effectively using conflict management techniques.
- Provide assistance in animal care and handling when necessary.
- Maintain proficiency in surveillance techniques to monitor activities within the community.
- Perform CPR and first aid as needed during emergencies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or related fields is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background checks, polygraph and psychological exam.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development related to criminal investigation techniques.
- Successfully complete the ohio peace officer training training academy.
