What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Psychologist (Assessment) position at Lorenz Clinic?
Description:
The problem with the mental health system today is that it's devolved into a cesspool of large corporate interests. Clinics are selling to insurance companies and private equity banks– places with non-clinician “vice presidents” that have no actual idea how to do quality psychotherapy. Clinicians are treated as a number, they don’t have control over their schedule or intakes, and there’s not enough time to learn or attend to quality. What’s more, they seem to hire every walking license, which means you have to work really hard to find quality colleagues. Overworked, uninspired, no control or autonomy. No thank you.
The field is at crisis inflection point, and the root causes are time and greed. Large corporate “clinics” show unrestrained growth at all costs, without regard to quality. What’s more, those with non-clinical leaders don’t even know what you need to do quality work, so why would anyone want to contribute to the problem by working there? If you don’t find a place that values excellence, a clinic that inspires you, a place where you’ll be surrounded by the best therapists, your career might flame out, and the field might fall apart in the process.
Lorenz Clinic is run by some of the best clinicians in Minnesota, so we know what it takes to sustain clinicians and do quality work. First, Lorenz gives you time– paid burnout time, consultation time, paid time off, paid holidays, paid CEU time, paid service day, up to twelve weeks paid parental leave, and so on. Next, Lorenz give you autonomy, choice, and control over your workload. Then Lorenz ensures sufficient social rewards of doing a job well done, including a sense of community and identity built around our selectivity in hiring. We only hire the best 5% of therapists– if you’re one of those, let us know! Our selectiveness is how you know you’ll be surrounded by smart people and solid, inspiring therapists. Finally, our workplace is marked by a dedication to fairness and internal equity, and our core values are driven by quality therapy, not silly business interests.
Make a difference on Main Street, not Wall Street. Apply with us and contribute to something real. Something clinician-led and a place where you and your colleagues will have each other over a long, sustainable career. Join us, and never give up hope for what mental healthcare could be.
About Lorenz Clinic
Lorenz is on a mission to heal the world one relationship at a time– To be the best clinic in Minnesota, not the biggest. We’ve fast become a regional leader in clinical services and training, our novel approach to clinician development often emulated by other practices. The clinic was the first Family Psychology specialty clinic in the North and was the first clinic in Minnesota to develop organized Post-Master’s Fellowships. It is recognized by many as one of the best post-degree training programs in Minnesota for clinicians looking to employ systemic, relational therapies. Compared to other large clinics regionally, Lorenz has the highest standards and ideals for clinicians and is the most selective in its hiring, selecting only 5% of applicants.
Our people have diverse backgrounds and experiences. We welcome an ever-changing, increasingly diverse group of applicants. Clinicians and trainees most often want to be here more than anywhere else because of how inspiring our high ideals are. Although training isn’t all we do, the training center is the font of vitality to the institution at large. We are growing, evolving, and changing on a daily basis.
We think big but act small, locally. Thirty years from now, Lorenz Clinic aspires to become one of the leading family institutes in the country, having gone from a microscopic mom and pop shop at someone’s dining room table to one of the premier family institutes in the world. The people that pass through Lorenz will continue to be the movers and shakers in the field, leaders that infuse systems thinking and relational, reflective practice into the mental health field for generations to come. We hope that our contributions to the specialty will be deep and lasting. Our hope is that people will always take great pride in being part of an organization that, for decades, has served a progressive leader in strengthening and healing relationships of all kinds. Through an integrated approach that involves research, training, and the service of others through therapy, Lorenz will deliver superior results and distinctive impact with lasting endurance for the children, adults, families, and couples of Minnesota.
