Few mental health clinics offer psychiatric providers the opportunity to work in such an applied, outpatient clinic setting so interprofessional in nature.

Interprofessional training is the keystone of our system. At any given time, about 20% of the clinicians at Lorenz are involved in training in one way or another. The training program is one of the most selective in Minnesota, with placements ranging from master’s practicum to specialty postdoctoral psychology fellowship and everything in between. Simply put, training allows us to work on the field, not just in it. This enlivens the practice at all levels and adds dimension and meaning to our work.

The Department
Supervisors work on an interdisciplinary mental health team that includes psychologists, family therapists, professional counselors, psychiatric clinicians, and clinical social workers. Supervisors have one home department across various levels of care, depending on the candidate's preference and prior preparation: outpatient, intensive outpatient, day treatment, of community-based.
Supervisors serve in key roles at the clinic, given Lorenz's status as a training clinic. Clinicians aren’t pigeon-holed working with high acuity cases in isolation and have autonomy to choose the types of cases best suited to their competence and interest. The practice enjoys deep, special relationships with referring partners that have grown to trust the clinic to deliver a high level of collaboration and specialized consultation.
The clinic’s training department is an affiliate of a number of area graduate programs, and the psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowships are APPIC-listed, which allows the training program to have a hand in training the next generation of clinicians for the betterment of the profession itself– for society’s benefit. This allows clinician supervisors who wish the opportunity to provide in clinical supervision; using more than one “muscle” is one of the most effective means of avoiding burnout.
The Role
This position entails the provision of clinical preceptorship and supervision and/or collaboration to Post-DNP fellows (PMHNPs). The clinic selects supervisors who are systemically aware, relationally skilled, socially-committed, and competent employing Falender's Competency-Based Approach to Supervision (or willingness to develop). The clinic uses an industry-leading EHR that allows for seamless interoperability with other health systems, enabling a high level of collaboration between systems of care. There may be some limited call with this position, depending on the host clinical program.

The hiring range for this position is $160,000 - $325,000 annually, depending on experience, credentials, and breadth professional competence. The hiring range for doctorally-prepared PMHNPs is $160,000 - $220,000, and the hiring range for psychiatrists is $220,000 - $325,000.

- The provision of clinical and administrative supervision as well as collaboration via Collaborative Agreements with first-year PMHNPs
- Carrying supervisory and patient caseloads as assigned
- The provision of psychiatric services including conducting diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, medication management, psychotherapy, psychological testing, and discharge planning for patients of the clinic
- Assisting the Training Director in coordinating, organizing, and supervising trainees
- Reviewing supervisees’ documentation and taking responsibility for any corresponding billing
- Ensuring such documentation is consistent with managed care contracts and the professional standard
- Attending and participating in monthly case consultation, Grand Rounds, business meetings, and other meetings as required
- Compliance with clinic documentation standards
- Compliance with licensing board rules and APA Code of Ethics
Requirements
The most successful candidates will evidence a track record of service as an interventionist with a high degree of professional activity within the field. The position requirements include but are not limited to:
- A doctoral degree in medicine or nursing from an accredited academic program
- Full, unrestricted licensure as an MD, DO, or PMHNP in Minnesota
- Teaching competence and experience within the areas of pharmacology or psychotherapy (preferred)
- Competence providing and supervising clinical services to patients across the lifespan
- At least 2 years providing clinical supervision post-licensure (preferred)
- A demonstrated history of scholarly activity within the field (preferred)
- Designation as an approved supervisor with one's own licensing board, if applicable
- Formal training in child or family therapy (preferred)
