Job Title : Environmental Specialist 1
Job Description :
We are seeking an Environmental Specialist 1 to join our team and support our environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, minimizing environmental impacts, and driving sustainability practices within the organization. This position requires a foundational knowledge of environmental regulations, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Environmental Compliance :
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials handling.
- Conduct environmental audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Stay informed on evolving environmental regulations and assist in implementing necessary changes within the organization.
Regulatory Affairs :
Interact with regulatory agencies, respond to inquiries, and assist with permit applications, renewals, and regulatory reporting.Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant environmental laws and regulations.Support the organization in navigating the regulatory landscape and ensure compliance with applicable standards.Assist in managing relationships with regulatory agencies and industry associations.Sustainability Initiatives :
Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability programs, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and carbon footprint reduction.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into daily operations.Track and report on sustainability metrics and progress towards environmental goals.Environmental Risk Management :
Help assess and mitigate environmental risks associated with company operations.Support the development and oversight of emergency response plans for environmental incidents.Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental best practices and safety protocols.Stakeholder Engagement :
Serve as a point of contact for environmental inquiries from internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and community members.Foster positive relationships with environmental advocacy groups and community organizations.Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental compliance, regulatory affairs, or sustainability.Skills & Knowledge :Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting processes.Strong project management skills with the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders.Proficiency in environmental management software and data analysis tools.Certifications : Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are a plus.Working Conditions :
