P&C Field Services Engineer/Associate/Technician – Forest Park, GA
Job Summary
This position is for a Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services Engineer in the Panel Quality Assurance group. It will be filled at a level based on qualifications, education, and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for P&C Field Services activities, prioritizing safety and quality. They must follow switching procedures and safety protocols while completing projects efficiently and on schedule.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's in Engineering or Engineering Technology, OR
- 2-year technical degree in electrical maintenance, OR
- Equivalent experience (substation electrician, technician, wireman, etc.)
Experience:
- P&C Field Services experience preferred
- Electric power utility transmission/construction/maintenance experience
- Related substation experience (P&C applications, design, construction, equipment, project management, etc.)
Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of 3-phase power, AC/DC Protection & Control schemes, and fault analysis
- Familiarity with test equipment (voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, relay test sets)
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and multitasking skills
- Effective communication with customers, employees, and leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Available for callouts and outage response outside normal hours
- Ability to travel overnight as needed
- Ability to operate manual switches and work in a substation environment
- Must live near or be willing to relocate close to the office
- Must pass a background check, drug screening, and NERC review
Job Responsibilities:
- Commission, test, maintain, and troubleshoot protective relays, controls, and communication equipment
- Execute construction projects and substation maintenance with no service interruptions
- Coordinate outages and commissioning activities with various stakeholders
- Follow safety standards, conduct job briefings, and mitigate risks
- Develop technical expertise in power systems, relaying, SCADA, and substation testing
- Respond to emergencies, isolating hazards and damaged equipment to restore service safely

Mechnaical role
0-5 years
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of service visits, repairs, parts used, and customer interactions for future reference and compliance.
- Training & Education: Provide hands-on training to customers or staff on proper equipment usage, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product managers, and customer service teams to relay technical feedback and improve product performance.
- Emergency Support: Respond to urgent service requests and unexpected breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime for customers.
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to company policies, safety guidelines, and industry regulations when servicing equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Technical diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, or a related field.
- Experience: 0-5 years in a related field, preferably in equipment maintenance, repair, or technical support.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems and troubleshooting techniques.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to customers and provide excellent service.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Quick thinking and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, sometimes on short notice.
