Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist (Planner) to lead strategic maintenance initiatives, optimize equipment performance, and minimize downtime. This role is responsible for developing, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance plans, ensuring seamless plant operations. The Planner will provide direct support to operations and maintenance crews by planning, estimating, and scheduling maintenance activities on plant equipment. Additionally, this position will mentor junior staff, engage with senior management, and drive continuous improvement through the adoption of new maintenance technologies and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain detailed work plans and schedules for routine maintenance and plant outages.
- Administer the work order management system, updating equipment records and maintaining a historical database.
- Enhance productivity by coordinating material ordering, staging, and workflow between maintenance teams.
- Develop comprehensive outage work packages for planned, forced, and maintenance outages, utilizing Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules when necessary.
- Provide real-time coordination for on-site and off-site contract labor, including equipment rebuilds and part refurbishments.
Strategic Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead maintenance strategy development to ensure equipment reliability, performance, and longevity.
- Optimize spare parts inventory levels, ensuring cost-effective stocking solutions.
- Drive maintenance innovation by assessing and implementing new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Engage with senior management to align maintenance needs, budgets, and long-term strategies.
- Provide mentorship and training for junior maintenance staff, sharing best practices and expertise.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Foster strong relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring reliable and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
- Ensure maintenance practices comply with Southern Generation Playbook and industry standards.
- Participate in weekly planning meetings, ensuring maintenance activities align with operational goals.
- Develop and track routine, outage, and capital budgets, ensuring cost-effective planning and execution.
- Review closed work orders to identify follow-up work and continuous improvement opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 6-10 years of experience in plant maintenance, operations, and work planning.
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications in maintenance, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of work order management systems, scheduling software, and maintenance planning tools.
- Expertise in contract administration and vendor negotiations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across diverse teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of financial fundamentals and budget management in maintenance operations.
