The Monitor Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare team by continuously observing and interpreting cardiac rhythms and vital signs of patients. This position involves monitoring multiple patients simultaneously, identifying any changes in their conditions, and promptly notifying nursing staff of any abnormalities or emergencies. The Monitor Technician is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, assisting with patient care as needed, and ensuring the proper placement of EKG leads functioning of monitoring equipment. Strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role. The Monitor Technician contributes to the overall safety and quality of patient care by providing vital information and support to the healthcare team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma, or GED;
- Registered/Active Certification as a Cardiographic Technician, EKG Technician, or EMT-P;
- Current BLS Certification from accredited BLS provider;
- 2 years of experience as a Cardiographic Technician, EKG Technician, or Monitor Tech, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be period of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem solving situations.
