SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs diagnostic procedures in Radiology with the sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology so that independent selection and modification of the technical factors may produce optimal results. Performs independent diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of the technical details.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer Service: Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, physicians, volunteers and other internal/external customers. Ensures that all communications and job activities result in a positive customer experience.
- Performs appropriate Radiographic procedures independently under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner according to the Radiographer Scope of Practice and Radiography Clinical Performance Standards of the ASRT.
- Monitors and maintains protocols and staff compliance with departmental standards.
- Corroborates patient identification, pertinent clinical history, procedure request and informed consent, ensuring that information is documented in the patient’s medical record and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner.
- Applies principles of ALARA radiation protection standards to minimize radiation exposure to patient, self and others.
- Determines that all procedural requirements are completed including patient and equipment preparation.
- Identifies, prepares and administers oral and intravenous contrast as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner according to the Radiography Clinical Performance Standards.
- Independently determines radiographic technique and evaluates images for technical quality, optimal anatomy evaluation and complete, accurate documentation.
- Assists the licensed independent practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiographic procedures.
- Identifies emergency situations and determines the course of action to resolve the emergency or problem circumstance.
- Provides patient education including the procedure details, contrast administration and other related information.
- Performs all Radiographic procedures with appropriate accessory equipment including immobilization devices and radiation shields.
- Evaluates patient’s medical status prior to performing radiographic procedures including allergies, laboratory results and pregnancy determination.
- Observes general safety precautions at all times.
- Participates in formal in-service training programs of the CT / Radiology department, keeping abreast of new procedures, equipment, and methodologies.
- Maintains adequate records, i.e. identity of patient, date and examination, requesting physician, and or any pertinent information in appropriate locations.
- Manages own time in a productive and reliable manner completing work assignments.
- Completes appropriate volume of work while maintaining quality standards.
- Provides assistance to others as needed.
- Cooperates with coworkers and management to maintain a harmonious environment and assists in solving customer problems in a cooperative manner.
- Adjusts work schedule to accommodate changing priorities.
- Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner including patient transport.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics in all job functions.
- Follows established emergency, infection control and/or universal precautions procedures as required.
- Maintains work area and equipment according to standards and or policies.
- Attends mandatory in-service related to safety and/or infection control.
- Supports and participates in department quality improvement activities.
- Provides courteous service to internal/external customers in all activities.
- Offers assistance to all internal/external customers as appropriate and/or refers customer to appropriate individual or department.
- Communicates in a professional manner emphasizing objective, non-judgmental view points and teamwork.
- Demonstrates required knowledge and skills to effectively consider individual`s diagnosis, diverse culture, religious beliefs and age.
- Obtains pertinent information from different age groups of patients and appropriately interprets information for assessment.
- Performs Radiographic procedures according to age appropriate guidelines.
- Evaluates environmental safety and provides an environment that is safe based on age and development status.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.

- Must be A.R.R.T registered or registry eligible. A.R.R.T. Registry is required within one year of hire.
- Maintain current IEMA and CPR Licensure
- CT Experience preferred
