What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drone Pilot position at Lorien?
This position is in search of a skilled Part 107 certified operator with extensive experience operating drones via Remote Control. The qualified candidate will act as an operations specialist assisting in the development and testing of cutting-edge safety related technologies. The role includes mission planning and lightweight maintenance duties. The candidate should demonstrate attention to detail, a safety-oriented attitude, flexibility, and enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology. This individual will also conduct limited operation readiness activities and logistics planning as needed. The role will also require cross-team training to support teams such as (but not limited to) delivery sites for pre-launch tasks. The candidate will join a Research and Development team working on inventing and developing new transformative experiences.
Requirements:
- 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- 2 years of Remote-Control pilot experience with excellent coordination and execution
- Employees must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift to 50 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
- Experience leading small teams
- Travel up to 75% of the year
- Valid Driver's License and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria
- Work in volatile weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, snow) all within the established safety thresholds
- Drive to offsite work locations daily (work vehicle will be provided)
- Work variable shifts and schedules including weekends when applicable.
- Overtime may be required and approved based off work assignment.
Shift/Hours:
- Can possibly start as early as 3 am and end as late as midnight
- Possible weekends especially if traveling
- 5 days a week - currently crews start at 1:00pm, and end at 8:30pm but this can change
- 8-hour shifts
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with commercial UAS industry
- Aviation safety experience as a Safety Officer or similar
- Excellent business communications and reporting skills
- Part 107 license needed
Degree or Certification:
- Bachelor's (preferred, but not required)
