Our client is looking Oracle/SQL DBA Engineer for Long term project in Albany, NY (Hybrid) Below is the detail requirement.
Role: Oracle/SQL DBA Engineer
Location: Albany, NY 3 days in office
Exp Needed: 7-8 yrs exp
The high-level responsibilities of the Database Engineers at Onsite will be as below:
- Develop improvement and Innovation plans for databases with Cloud First Approach and Automation
- Define policies, standards and process for projects and operations
- Resolve database performance issues, capacity needs, and security concerns
- Database modernization by migrating on-prem databases to AWS
- Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform and Jenkins
- Assist in upgrading Oracle and SQL Server databases
- Tune of database environments to ensure optimum performance and maximization of available resources.
- Develop Automation toolkit and Ansiable playbook to automate repeated tasks, develop automation standards
- Develop roadmap for DB infrastructure and define budgeting, finops management and license management
- Perform PRC/NPRC for the new DB builds and handover to Ops.
- Maintain RAS (Regeneron Automation Server) Framework
- Understanding of GXP process and configure system as per compliance requirement
The high level responsibilities of the DB Performance engineer will be as below:
- Identify performance bottlenecks, resource contention, and areas of inefficiency, and provide actionable insights for improvements.
- Recommend and implement changes to query structures (e.g., indexing strategies, query refactoring) to improve performance.
- Regularly rebuild or reorganize indexes to avoid fragmentation and improve data retrieval efficiency.
- Fine-tune database configurations (e.g., buffer sizes, connection pooling, memory allocation) to maximize resource utilization and ensure optimal performance.
- Analyze current and future database growth patterns and plan for scalability to handle increasing data volume and user loads.
- Implement strategies for vertical and horizontal scaling, including partitioning, sharding, and distributed databases.
- Configure and optimize database replication for fault tolerance and performance, ensuring minimal lag between nodes.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of recurring performance issues, providing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Work closely with developers to optimize database interactions, improve SQL query efficiency, and establish best practices for database access.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure that the database infrastructure (cloud, on-premise, etc.) is aligned with performance requirements and can support future growth.
The high level responsibilities of the Core DB engineers (Oracle/SQL Server) will be as below:
- Install and configure the database instances for optimal performance and security.
- Optimize database performance to ensure applications run smoothly without performance bottlenecks.
- Ensuring the database is secure against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
- Ensuring the database remains available even during failures and can be quickly restored to a previous, stable state if needed.
- Regularly applying patches and upgrades to the database system to ensure it's up-to-date with the latest features, performance improvements, and security fixes.
- Planning for future resource needs based on usage trends
- Migrating data between versions of a DBMS (e.g., from Oracle 13c to 19c)
- Performing cross-platform data migrations (e.g., from SQL Server to MySQL)
- Integrating databases with external systems (ETL processes, third-party APIs)
- Keeping detailed records of database configurations, changes, incidents, and processes to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing, and compliance.
