Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Migration Specialist to lead the migration of databases from Sybase and MySQL to PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift . The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing the migration process while ensuring data integrity, performance, and minimal downtime. This role requires a deep understanding of both transactional (PostgreSQL) and analytical (Redshift) database platforms, as well as hands-on experience with large-scale data migration projects.
Job Description :
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required; advanced degree in Business or Engineering preferred, with minimum 12 Years of relevant experience.
- 7 years of experience in database administration, or migration.
- Proven experience in migrating databases from Sybase and MySQL to PostgreSQL and / or Redshift.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale data migration projects, including both OLTP and OLAP systems.
- Deep expertise in Sybase ASE / IQ, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Redshift.
- Proficiency with database migration tools such as AWS SCT, pgLoader, Ora2Pg, and AWS DMS.
- Strong SQL and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Perl) for custom data migration and automation tasks.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL-specific features like PL / pgSQL, partitioning, and JSON.
- Experience with Redshift performance tuning, including distribution styles, sort keys, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data pipeline orchestration (e.g., AWS Glue, Apache Airflow, Talend).
