Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be twenty-one years of age.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Successful completion and maintenance of New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification in accordance with New Mexico Department of Public Safety standards, including yearly firearms qualifications.
- Must live within sixty statute miles, by public roadway, of the Los Alamos County line within six months of hire.
- Must possess, or ability to obtain within first thirty days of employment and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening and subsequent random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Successful completion of thorough background investigation, including FBI fingerprint check.
- Successful completion of the pre-employment physical and psychological exam prior to commencing employment.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony, any domestic violence conviction, or other crime involving moral turpitude.
- Must not have been convicted of DUI within the last three years.

- Prior Military, Detention, or Law Enforcement experience.

- Must possess and maintain a New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification in accordance with New Mexico Department of Public Safety standards, including yearly firearms qualifications. External applicant must possess a New Mexico Law Enforcement Certification in accordance with New Mexico Department of Public Safety standards, including yearly firearms qualifications or have ability to obtain certification by waiver within one year of employment.
