The Bachelor's student category of the UGS Program offers bachelor's students the opportunity to participate in the UGS program during summers or in between semesters. This category applies to those students who are working towards a bachelor's degree. Academic year and/or summer internships are available. Education/Experience: Applicant must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering program. Junior or Senior level students are preferred.

- Analytical chemistry, measurement science, separations, spectroscopy, remote sensing, fieldable instrumentation, bio-analytical chemistry, science of signatures
- Radiochemistry, actinide science, nuclear forensic, isotope production and separation
- Materials chemistry and characterization, additive manufacturing, aging, corrosion and materials compatibility
- Data analysis, chemometric, advanced data visualization, modeling, and data mining

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Fluent in common software packages including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Experience with Python, Matlab or similar data analysis software
- Laboratory experience demonstrating an attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices
- Demonstrated knowledge with the safe and proper handling of class 3b or 4 laser systems
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must enroll in and receive credit for at least 12 credit hours each semester, or equivalent
- Must initially have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75/4.0
- Must include a cover letter with your CV

Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with common laboratory apparatus and instrumentation
- Demonstrated experience with vacuum equipment, femtosecond laser systems and controlling of motorized translation stages.
- Demonstrated experience with alignment of optical elements, use of cameras and other detectors.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context; and
- Commitment to achieving results in a complex social and organizational setting.
