No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Selected candidates will:
- Create, design, analyze, and build the tools, instruments, and systems that researchers need to explore, monitor, test, and discover natural and man-made phenomena.
- Apply engineering principles, theories, concepts, and practices to contribute to solutions for a broad range of technical challenges of national importance.
- Serve as a member of integrated research and development (R&D) teams to answer science and engineering challenges.
- Assist in the research, design, testing, analysis, verification, and validation of engineering and technology solutions in support of R&D initiatives.
- Learn advanced technologies and analysis techniques employed by the Los Alamos National Laboratory engineering community.
- Adapt to evolving R&D requirements while meeting safety, security, compliance, and schedule imperatives.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Students who wish to participate in the High School Internship Program must meet all the following requirements:
- Be a senior in high school at the time of internship.
- Be at least 16 years of age at the time of internship.
- Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
- Attend a high school located in New Mexico.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test
- Be a JUNIOR in high school at the time you are completing this application.
