What You Will Do

Prototype Fabrication (PF) Division is seeking an undergraduate level student for a challenging paid internship for the current academic year and/or summer. The selected candidate will be provided with a mentor and assigned specific projects with clear deliverables.

PF Division is a manufacturing organization that provides components for the elaborate scientific and engineering prototype devices and systems that are designed by numerous organizations across Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The PF Division is proudly staffed with engineers, journeymen machinists, inspectors, programmers and maintenance technicians.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow institutional policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and foster a cohesive team environment.
  • Computer skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), (Sharepoint, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program.
  • Must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). Entering college freshmen must provide documentation indicating matriculation into an undergraduate degree program.
  • Must currently have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 on 4.0 scale.

A resume and current transcript, showing GPA and course work requirements, are required.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
