The MDE group is made up of mechanical engineers, designers, and technicians focused on accelerator related technologies and is principally responsible for all the LANSCE mechanical beam line systems including beam line electro-magnets, alignment, beam line assemblies, beam line vacuum systems, accelerating structure water cooling systems, and mechanical beam diagnostics systems.
The Mechanical Team is a multi-disciplinary team made up of technicians and technologists, with an expertise in machining, welding, assembling, alignment, mechanical material handling, and more. The team is primarily responsible for all the beamline magnets, assemblies and alignments for LANSCE accelerator. The team also heavily works for others utilizing their expertise hence serving customers across the lab.
As a Mechanical Team Manager for AOT-MDE, the successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations, coordinate with other teams within the division, contribute to the beam operation and maintenance of the LANSCE accelerator's mechanical systems, beam line assemblies and alignment. He or she will represent mechanical team in all coordination meetings and be responsible for planning and scheduling of their short- and long-term activities, integrating with other teams in the group, and correct T&E charging. The successful candidate will also provide continuous on-call support for the LANSCE mechanical team after hours and on weekends.
