Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) announces an opening for a probationary, tenure-track Nursing Instructor, Medical Surgical Emphasis at LATTC beginning in the Fall 2025.
LATTC is a two-year community college located in downtown Los Angeles. Each semester, the college serves more than 13,000 students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. We serve a culturally diverse community in a dynamic urban setting with the purpose of supporting students in achieving associate of arts degrees, general education, skill certificates, and / or personal development.

JOB DESCRIPTION :
LATTC is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates to engage and educate our students. Faculty members are expected to create a learning-centered environment that supports students in fulfilling their educational goals. The position involves curriculum development and evaluation, web-enhanced course development, attendance of department and discipline meetings, professional activities, and college committee work. Instruction may include day, evening, off-campus, and weekend courses.
The ideal candidates will possess current clinical and classroom skills in registered nursing education. Applicants with experience in med / surg nursing are encouraged to apply. Interested individuals who meet the LACCD and CA Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) minimum qualifications with required training and experience in the above nursing specialty area are invited to also apply for the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Master's degree in Nursing; OR
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing AND Master's in Health Education or Health Science; OR the equivalent OR the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.
- The minimum qualifications as set by the California Board of Registered Nursing require :
a) At least one year of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five years, which can be met by :
b) One (1) year's continuous full time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in med / surg; or One (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in med / surg or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency and completion of at least one year of experience teaching courses related to med / surg or a course which includes practice in teaching nursing.
c) A current California registered nursing (RN) license.
d) Demonstrate evidence of sensitivity to and understanding culturally diverse academic, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT - COVID 19 VACCINATION :
Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated and complete a baseline test or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.

The instructor should be prepared to teach a range of courses within the Nursing discipline, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning. The successful candidates will be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities, and educational experiences.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :
The current starting range is from $74,500 to $138,430 for the ten-month academic year depending on education and experience. The Ph.D. differential is $4,710 per academic year.
