What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Los Angeles County Fair Assn Fairgrounds?
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trash pick-up, cleaning and blowing around buildings, parking lots, fence lines, roadways, walkways and stable area.
- Clean roofs and drains.
- Straw leveling on trucks.
- Concrete/masonry, as required.
- Repair maintenance of exterior masonry tile.
- Asphalt patching.
- Assist with clean out of buildings after events.
- Pick up of cardboard and bail for recycling.
- Support events by moving tables, chairs, ticket booths, etc.
- Hang signs and banners.
- Support all departments by moving furniture, supplies, etc.
- Repair fences as needed.
- Clean stalls after events and sales.
YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OR WILLING TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE LABORERS UNION.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Must be a member of Laborers Union, Local 806. Must possess a valid California Drivers License. Must be able to operate skiploader, dump truck, backhoe, roller and truck, around the public and other employees. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
- Must be able to work in extreme weather, such as heat, cold, or rain
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to move around the grounds.
- Must be able to lift items that weigh up to 50 pounds and place at same or different levels.
- Must be able to operate equipment, i.e., skip loader, dump truck, backhoe, roller, and truck.
- Physically capable of walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
- Must be able to climb stairs.
- Must be able to use hand-held two-way radio.
- Must have valid California Drivers License.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
