Description
The Farm Competition Assistant will support the planning and execution of agriculture competitions with local student farm/agriculture associations and organizations during the LA County Fair.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Download competition entries and make corrections/updates utilizing the Showorks system
• Preps check-in and judging paperwork before each competition
• Reviews and enters competition results on Showorks
• Creates reports with the data collected on Showorks
• Monitors Livestock and Landscape Arrival, Check-in and Livestock Shows
• Monitors Competition and Barn staff as needed
• Answer exhibitor and fair patron questions as needed
• Fills in for Farm Competition Coordinator when they are not on grounds
Qualifications
SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizations skills
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Good multitasking skills
• background in working with state, county and local agencies on animal care, preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to stand, sit, and move around the fairgrounds
• May be asked to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, or rain
• Must have reliable transportation
