Description
Under general supervision, the Parking Lead will assist with parking admission operations for events. They will provide support to parking gate sellers and assist with recruitment and training. They also ensure optimal performance and provide assistance to guests with parking issues.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accurately track team members, including shift changes and breaks, to ensure proper staffing at all times
• Consistently practice safe work habits and verify that all staff has necessary safety equipment, including safety vests, flashlights, radios, umbrellas (if necessary) and water
• Oversee the setup, organization, and efficient management of parking lot gate selling points during events, guiding parking attendants and ensuring smooth traffic flow
• Lead and motivate a team of parking sellers, providing direction, training, and support to ensure optimal performance
• Address unforeseen challenges such as traffic congestion, emergency situations, and changing event dynamics with poise and effective decision-making
• Interact with event attendees in a courteous and helpful manner, addressing inquiries, providing directions, and resolving any parking-related issues
• Ensure that all parking operations adhere to safety guidelines and regulations, preventing congestion and maintaining a secure environment.
• Maintain open lines of communication with event organizers, parking staff, and management to ensure everyone is informed and aligned
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, vehicle counts, and other relevant data for post-event analysis.
• Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Prior experience in event coordination, parking management, or related roles is an advantage.
• Strong leadership skills, capable of supervising and motivating a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-centric attitude.
• Ability to remain composed under pressure and adapt to dynamic event environments.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
• Understanding of parking regulations and safety protocols.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedules.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and most days of the LA County Fair
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive a golf cart
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
• Must be able to sit at a computer/desk for long periods of time
• Must be able to speak and listen to customers, employees, supervisors, and peers
