Media & Lighting Technician
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County was the first museum in L.A. to open its doors 111 years ago and is poised for an exciting new era as it plans for the future. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking a Media & Lighting Technician for our Exhibitions department. The Media & Lighting Technician works closely with the Supervisor of Media & Lighting at the Natural History Museum. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :
- Installation, deinstallation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual and lighting equipment, supplies, systems, and software for Museum exhibitions and displays
- May coordinate team of technicians in installing or maintaining audiovisual or lighting systems
- Creation, editing, and organization of digital media, files, and assets for Museum exhibitions and displays (including video, audio, 2D and 3D imagery and models, interactive software, etc.). Establishing and maintaining workflows and best practices for creation, editing, and organization of the same.
- Building and testing of prototypes or proofs-of-concept for Museum exhibitions and displays
- Research on equipment, materials, and software for implementation in Museum exhibitions and displays
- Communication with vendors and ordering of equipment, materials, and software
