Job Description / Essential Elements:
COLTON JOINT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of Site Principal and the Principal's designee, to work with young men and women in a flexible program exemplifying high performance qualities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Be able to demonstrate competency in the sport.
Have the ability to work within a diversified and meaningful program.
Have previous background sufficient to warrant a leadership role within a character-building program.
Emphasize good sportsmanship, academic excellence, positive attitude and character.
Have ability to work effectively with students, parent groups and the general public.
Must be knowledgeable and competent in first aid and emergency procedures (valid American Red Cross first aid card and American Heart Association, or other authorizing agency, CPR card, California Athletic Trainer Certificate), coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and psychology as it relates to sports participation.
Must complete mandatory CIF Coaching Principles training or provide verification of completion.
Must complete mandatory Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training and provide verification of completion.
Must apply and obtain the Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) through the Commission on Teacher Credentialing if a teaching credential is not currently held; the application fee is $100.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of all Education Code and Title 5, California Code of Regulations requirements for coaching eligibility.
Completion of Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training.
Possession of the Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) or California Teaching Credential.
Possession of a valid California driver license.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous head coaching experience in the sport is desired.

Completion of CPR/First Aid Training. Completion of Heat Illness Training. Completion of Sexual Harassment Training. Negative TB test within 60days. Possession of the Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) or California Teaching Credential. Must possess a valid California driver license. -Certificated employees of the Colton Joint Unified School District have the first right to apply and qualify for this position prior to non-certificated employees of the District.
