Job Description
Under supervision, to monitor and control student behavior on a high school campus; to write simple reports; and to perform related work as required. Positions in this class are assigned routine duties related to the control of student behavior on a school campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
$ Ensuring District and school policies and rules;
$ Applying District and school policies to each situation as it arises, using good judgment;
$ Establishing rapport and gaining the respect of students,
$ Controlling student behavior in routine non-classroom activities;
$ Identifying and handling the presence of unauthorized individuals on the campus;
$ Checking hall passes for authorization to be out of the classroom;
$ Observing and controlling student behavior in non-classroom activities, passing periods, and special school activities such as assemblies, dances and athletic events, referring students to an administrator as necessary;
$ Monitoring classrooms during brief absences of a teacher;
$ Discouraging disruptive and potentially dangerous behavior;
$ Observing and controlling or reporting any damage to school property;
$ Periodically patrolling student parking areas and areas around the school;
$ Checking restrooms for presence of individuals smoking;
$ Controlling traffic entering and leaving school parking lots;
$ Transporting students in accordance with administrative direction and appropriate authorization;
$ Giving referrals to students, as needed;
$ Locating students on campus as needed;
$ Requesting unauthorized period to leave campus grounds;
$ Discussing behavior and attendance problems informally with students;
$ Completing simple reports;
$ Making reports of job activities, as assigned;
$ Contacting law enforcement authorities in accordance with guidelines established by school administration;
$ Performing related work as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
$ Adolescent behavior;
Requirements / Qualifications
California Driver's License Successful candidate will be required to pass a Department of Justice background check.
