Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Food Services or designee, the School Site/Production Assistant plays a vital role in supporting daily meal service, food preparation, and customer service at an assigned school site or production facility. This position assists with meal counting, POS transactions, cash handling, and ensures food safety and sanitation standards are maintained. While the School Site Assistant may receive work directives from the School Site Lead, the Lead is not a supervisor. The Assistant collaborates closely with the School Site Lead and school personnel to ensure efficient meal service and a positive dining experience for students.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in food service, preferably in a school or institutional setting is preferred.
• Experience with POS systems and cash handling is preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of food safety regulations and sanitation practices.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate a POS system and manage financial transactions accurately.
• Ability to take work direction and collaborate effectively with team members.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting in a kitchen environment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, including kitchen heat and refrigerated storage areas.
Certifications, Licenses and Other Requirements: These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
• Valid California Food Handler's Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment).
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
• Criminal justice finger and background clearance
• Valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance
