Physical Education (PE) Aide/Assistant

Job Summary

SOAR Charter Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education Assistant to support our dynamic PE program for students in grades TK through 8. The PE Assistant will work closely with the lead Physical Education teachers to implement fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship in alignment with SOAR’s mission and core values. This position requires a passion for working with children across all grade levels and the ability to support both small group and whole-group instruction. The PE Assistant will help prepare equipment, manage student behavior, monitor safety, and provide hands-on support during lessons and activities. Key Responsibilities: Assist with planning and facilitating PE activities for students in grades TK–8. Set up and clean up equipment and instructional materials before and after each class. Support classroom management and ensure student safety at all times. Encourage student participation and model positive behavior and sportsmanship. Work collaboratively with the PE teacher and staff to support all learners. Supervise and engage students during recess and transitions, as needed. For grades 7 and 8, assist in teaching both grades as a whole group in collaboration with two teachers and the PE aide, ensuring consistent instruction and support. Qualifications: Experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to follow directions and adapt to a fast-paced school environment.
