- Work hours and rotating shifts may vary: Selected candidates may be placed on a day, swing, or graveyard shift depending on site needs.
- The current vacancies are located at:
- Calabasas Landfill (3)
- The list of eligible candidates resulting from this posting may be used to fill any additional vacancies that may occur in the next twelve (12) months at Scholl Canyon Landfill and Calabasas Landfill.Â

Job Summary
The major job duties are listed below. For a detailed list, please see the job description.Â
Under the supervision of a Solid Waste Operations Supervisor or higher, Incumbents will:
- Pick up litter and debris
- Direct traffic flow to designated disposal areas
- Relieve Weighscale Operators
- Relieve on-site water truck drivers
- Control drain flows and run-off
- Construct and assembling paper fences and other fencing
- Control for birds
- Inspect dirt and green waste loads
- Remove inappropriate landfill items such as tires from the slopes
- A valid California Class C driver licenseÂ
Desirable Qualifications
- Work experience in a landfill or refuse facility performing general construction labor, basic equipment maintenance, weighing loads and collecting payments
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as a scraper, bulldozer, motor grader, 824BG, excavator, front-end loader, or water truck
Knowledge of
- Tools and equipment used in outdoor construction and site maintenance
- Basic arithmetic
- Safe work practices
- Use various hand tools and mobile equipment
- Perform arithmetic computations and cash-handling transactions
- Follow instructions
- Perform labor-intensive tasks
- All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met. Â
- The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and an interview weighted at 50%.Â
- Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each test part to move forward in the selection process.Â
- The written test is tentatively scheduled for April 4.
- The interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of April 7.
- Candidates will be notified of their results in the selection process by Human Resources via Neogov.
