ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To supervise a group of professional engineers and support staff.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of a section manager, the incumbent will:
- Provide perspective and definition to broadly defined projects
- Supervise and coordinate engineering activities for design and construction of structural, geotechnical and architectural systems
- Plan, organize and coordinate the work of a group of engineers
- Supervise preparation of, or personally prepare, engineering studies or reports
- Develop and recommend changes in engineering procedures and practices
- Oversee and ensure completion of work in the interest of efficiency, technical quality and adherence to the Districts' policy
- Specify engineering procedures and practices
- Train, evaluate and participate in various personnel policy-related actions involving subordinates
- Participate in budget preparation
- Act as a liaison and coordinate work between different engineering sections, other departments, outside contractors and others
- Supervise and review the preparation of complex engineering reports
All candidates must possess the following:
- A valid California Class C driver license
- A valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California
- A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in engineering, geological or closely related technical major
AND
For Supervising Engineer I:
- Option #1: One (1) year of experience in the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County at or above the Civil Engineer level
- Option #2: Five (5) years of verifiable engineering experience at a level requiring possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer issued by the State of California
For Supervising Engineer II:
- Two (2) years of experience in the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County as Supervising Engineer I, or equivalent experience supervising professional engineers
- A valid Certificate of Registration as a Structural Engineer issued by the State of California
- Eight (8 ) or more years of experience in Structural and Architectural engineering
- Experience with managing and overseeing the work of multiple engineering consultants

- Engineering principles, practices, techniques, developments and methods related to the specific positions
- Engineering economics
- Project management
Ability to:
- Plan, organize and supervise the work of professional and support staff
- Supervise comprehensive, complex engineering projects and preparation of reports
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

- The selection process will consist of an interview weighted at 100% of the overall score.

Salary : $12,738 - $16,747
