WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM MECHANIC
(Stationary Mechanic – Journey Level)
The Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County is recruiting for a Journey Level Wastewater Treatment System Mechanic. Current vacancy is at Valencia. The essential functions of this position are to perform skilled preventive repair and maintenance of stationary equipment and machinery in a wastewater treatment facility. A 9/80 schedule is offered consisting of Monday through Thursday (6:30am-4:00pm) and working Friday (6:30am-3:00pm). After hour, overtime, and weekend callbacks will sometimes be required. Knowledge of: Methods, materials and tools used in the repair of large and complex mechanical equipment such as engines, compressors and pumps and their operation; use of precision test equipment and tools; hand tools, welding and cutting equipment, pipe cutters and threaders, valve grinders and various saws; occupational hazards and safety regulations of the trade.
Ability to: Diagnose and repair a wide variety of mechanical equipment; read, interpret, and work from repair manuals and specifications; use specialized tools and equipment; and instruct apprentices in trade techniques.
SELECTION PROCESS:

- The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and/or an interview weighted at 50%.
- Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
