Position Description
ABOUT THE COURT
Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 36 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,800 full-time Court employees. The Court has an annual budget of more than $1 billion. Located in Southern California, Los Angeles County is geographically one of the nation's largest counties, covering 4,752 square miles and, with over 10,400,000 residents, is also one of its most populous counties.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Finance Managers are responsible for managing the operations of a designated unit of professional and technical financial services staff who may perform one or more of the following functions : financial reporting and monitoring, expenditure and revenue management, general accounting, financial administration of grants and fiscal services, collections, collection enhancement, ability to pay evaluations, and trust accounting. Incumbents participate in the development and implementation of court-wide financial plans and systems and provide professional assistance to executive and judicial management on a wide range of financial services issues to ensure financial operations are in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Work requires a thorough knowledge of financial management and reporting principles and professional standards, as well as a detailed knowledge of applicable financial systems and legal parameters. Finance Manager is distinguished from Finance Administrator in that incumbents in the latter class are responsible for managing the delivery of services across multiple financial units, and / or oversee projects with greater impact on Court operations and administration. This is an at will managerial position. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act (SB 2140) authorizes the Court to exclude managerial employees from the employment protection provisions of the Act subject to meet and confer.
TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period contingent upon the Court's operational unit.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

OPTION I : Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, economics, finance, accounting, or a closely related field - and - four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience performing one or more of the following : financial management or systems analysis, economic forecasting, financial planning / budgeting and / or implementation, or governmental budget and finance analysis - and - two (2) years of the four (4) years of the qualifying experience must have been supervising

OPTION II : Eight (8) years of years of progressively responsible work experience performing one or more of the following : financial management or systems analysis, economic forecasting, financial planning / budgeting and / or implementation, or governmental budget and finance analysis may be substituted for the education requirement - and - two (2) years of the eight (8) years of the qualifying experience of must have been supervising
