SPECIAL SALARY INFORMATION : Management Appraisal of Performance Plan (MAPP) : This position is subject to the provisions of the Management Appraisal of Performance Plan (MAPP). Initial salary placement and subsequent salary adjustments will be made in accordance with MAPP guidelines and regulations.

No out-of-class experience will be accepted.

DEFINITION :

Manages a major section in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and administration of departmental strategic health care program initiatives and projects.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS :

Positions allocable to this class report to an executive level manager and are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the work of a section responsible for coordinating all departmental activity related to new and existing key healthcare programs. This position will direct all activities of the Office of Environmental Justice and Climate Health, planning and managing the development of environmental health policies and practices, implementing policies, and managing the delivery of countywide strategic public health initiatives on behalf of the Department.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS :

OPTION I :

Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a staff capacity analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, and making recommendations for a variety of healthcare programs for a large integrated healthcare delivery system, one year (1) of which must have included supervisory Environmental Health experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Senior Staff Analyst, Health , or higher.

OPTION II :

Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a staff capacity analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, and making recommendations for a variety of human services programs for a social services provider, one year (1) of which must have included supervisory Environmental Health experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Senior Staff Analyst, Health , or higher.

LICENSE :

A valid California Class "C" Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS : 2 - Light - This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION :

You must POSSESS and CLEARLY EXPRESS detailed years of experience performing relevant duties related to the requirements within your online job application under the "Experience" area.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS :

Credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications :

• Additional points will be awarded for supervisory Environmental Health experience beyond the Selection Requirements.
• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Law and Policy, Environmental Justice, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Social Sciences, Environmental Humanities, or a closely related field.
• A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

EXAMINATION CONTENT :

Once we have determined that you meet the requirements described above, our examination process will consist of an evaluation of experience based on application information, education, desirable qualifications, and supplemental questionnaire at the time of filing weighted 100%.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION :

The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the Eligible Register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility.

NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.

VACANCY INFORMATION :

The Eligible Register resulting from this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Health as they occur.

AVAILABLE SHIFT : Any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
