Description
Provides executive direction of the construction management or procurement activities for implementation and execution of major Metro capital transit projects or agency-wide procurement procedures.
Examples of Duties
- Directs and manages performance of construction management or procurement services by Metro staff, consultants, and contractors
Negotiates contracts, change orders, and / or claims with contractors
Establishes and monitors short- and long-range project goals, budgets, schedules, progress, and strategies
Coordinates third-party related matters and public affairs activities
Reviews and approves contract documents
Ensures construction meets operations and maintenance quality standards and expectations
Manages claims resolution
Sets and implements construction management or procurement project policies, procedures, safety and work standards, and controls
Ensures cooperation and coordination of services amongst departments to achieve agency-wide goals and objectives
Provides recommendations, technical assistance, and information to the Board of Directors, executive management, and departments related to Metro's construction management, procurements, and / or acquisition strategies
Ensures compliance with Metro policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws
Prepares and presents reports to executive and management staff, the Board of Directors, and outside regulatory agencies
Represents Metro at meetings, conferences, and public events
Supervises, trains, mentors, and motivates assigned staff directly or through subordinate management
Communicates Metro's safety vision and goals; oversees the implementation of agency and departmental safety rules, policies, and procedures; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees
