Description
Manages the equipment maintenance activities of a maintenance division or maintenance operation.
Examples of Duties
- Develops goals, establishes priorities, and directs the work of equipment maintenance staff and operations
- Conducts special planning and operational projects; prepares related reports, data, budgets and work programs
- Oversees the development and implementation of operational reports related to attendance, budget, maintenance activity, preventative maintenance compliance and scheduling, road calls, and timekeeping / payroll
- Manages the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Maintenance and Material Management system and oversees the development and implementation of system enhancements, updates, integration, and transfer of payroll information into Oracle
- Administers safety, quality assurance, and vehicle preventive maintenance programs
- Prepares, submits, and oversees the annual and project budgets for assigned area, and monitors annual expenditures
- Projects division expenditures to assist in departmental budget calculations
- Administers various union contracts for compliance; conducts disciplinary and grievance hearings
- Develops and maintains training program for assigned employees and ensures Personnel Qualification Standards are met
- Develops and oversees training programs for the Maintenance Department to ensure proper and consistent system usage and adherence to business operations procedures and processes
- Works with other departments, outside agencies, and vendors to coordinate activities
- Meets with other managers to discuss and ensure service requirements are met
- Interacts with and responds to regulatory agencies such as the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) during Tri-Annual Fleet Audits and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) during annual Fleet Terminal Inspections
- Oversees the investigation and reporting of equipment failures to identify trends
- Prepares various reports and analyzes them for trends
- Develops and prepares programs and schedules for equipment upgrades
- Supervises and motivates assigned staff
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees
