Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Full-Time Faculty is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, engaging with students, and contributing to the overall academic mission of the institution. This role involves teaching core curriculum, providing career advising, and participating in program development and assessment. The Full-Time Faculty will maintain a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a passion for teaching and learning. Classification: This position is classified as "Remote". Home Office: *Employee's home office must be located in a state LAPU is registered in (AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KS, KY, MN, MO, MT, NM, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, TN, VA, WA, WI) Remote Expectation We expect our employees to be able to fulfill their LAPU responsibilities with minimal distractions. While remote work does offer flexibility, employees should make arrangements for regular dependent care during work hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction: Deliver engaging and effective instruction in assigned courses, adhering to established curriculum guidelines.
  • Student Engagement: Provide career advising, mentorship, and support to students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and review of curriculum, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and industry standards.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance through various assessment methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.

Administrative Tasks: Manage student records, participate in program-specific activities, and contribute to university committees as needed. 

The ideal candidate possesses both elementary teaching experience and administrative experience in K-6 settings, demonstrating a successful track record of supervising and leading teachers. 

Required Experience / Education

  • Christian Commitment: Vital Christian faith and lifestyle.
  • Supportive of the evangelical mission and purpose of LAPU.
  • A terminal degree in Education from a U.S. regionally-accredited university.
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience working in a higher education institution.
  • Teaching experience in K-6 Public Education.
  • Administrative experience in K-6 Public Education.
  • Online teaching experience. 
  • Ability to create and build strong collaborative relationships with constituencies within and outside of LAPU Academic Affairs.
  • Capable of functioning expeditiously within a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Desired Experience / Education

  • Previous experience with online, and face-to-face programs in a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in education. 
  • Experience with an academic program relevant to LAPU (Education, Humanities, Business and Leadership, Allied Health, and Psychology).
  • Proven record of ability to conduct high-quality research that is reflected in the authorship of peer-reviewed publications or other research writing.

Essential Functions

  • To teach at minimum 42 credit hours at undergraduate and graduate level during five (5) eight-week sessions in discipline areas assigned by the Assistant Dean, and reviewed annually by the CAO.
  • To manage and implement innovations in teaching, assessment, and curriculum development in a specific program of study.
  • To collaborate with employers of future graduates of program(s) being managed.
  • To contribute to the development, planning, implementation, and revision of high quality curriculum. 
  • To engage actively with students’ assignments while monitoring student progress, formal assessment, achievement, and attendance.
  • To participate actively in departmental and academic seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the academy.
  • To engage in regular scholarship and produce at least one output of scholarly activity per year.
  • To provide pastoral care and support to students in collaboration with the Student Success group.
  • To participate in the administration of the disciplines’ programs of study and other activities as requested.
  • To contribute to academic working groups or committees as requested.
  • To maintain one’s continuing professional development.
  • To actively follow and promote LAPU policies.
  • To carry out any other duties, commensurate with the role and purpose of the position.
  • Required to work a Saturday commencement event each calendar year
  • Attend key student functions, such as Commencement.

Missional Expectations

The Full-time Faculty is responsible for carrying out LAPU’s Christian faith and mission by hiring Godly employees who embody the Christian faith in their daily living and by providing spiritual support and care to employees in their span of care through praying with employees regarding their dreams and challenges, sharing devotional messages and providing their team members with spiritual counseling.  The Full-time Faculty is is assessed annually on their performance in accomplishing these vital tasks.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to organize, motivate, and work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Strong command of the English language with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Teaching and other forms of public presentation. 
  • Proven record of ability to supervise academic work by undergraduates and graduate students.
  • Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.
  • Proven record of ability to conduct high quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high quality publications or other research outputs.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with an ability to plan and manage multiple projects concurrently in a timely manner.
  • Ability to be proactive, to take ownership of assigned tasks, work with little supervision, and meet deadlines.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and appropriate software applications (see below).
