75th STREET, EARLY EDUCATION CENTER

The Los Angeles Unified School District is now recruiting an Early Education Center Principal to lead and provide quality early learning experiences to prepare children for future success in school.
The Early Education Center (EEC) Principal supervises instruction, provides professional development to program staff, and facilitates the articulation between the early education center and the elementary school. The EEC Principal monitors the program, Department of Social Services, and California Department of Education requirements; and administers the center’s Early Education Student Information System, nutrition program, budget, and payroll reporting. The principal is also responsible for all compliance monitoring, recruiting, and assisting with transitions to kindergarten.
EECs are open 245 days a year, 5-days a week. They service children from ages 2-5 inclusive of children with special needs that are fully-included with their general education peers.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Possess an Administrative Services credential, have Pre-K experience; have special education experience; would be conversant with CA Preschool Foundations and the needs of Pre-K English Learners; have excellent communication and listening skills; desire to build strong parent and community partnerships, and would be an articulate and thoughtful leader.
SALARY:
SALARY: MST 38G – A BASIS ($131,068 - $163,154) – 261 PAID DAYS
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing their basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- At least three school years of successful full-time service as a teacher (Grades K-3) OR
- At least three school years of successful full-time service in an administrative or supervisory position in a public school child development program, licensed child day care center, preschool or elementary school (Grades K-3)
Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
All minimum requirements must be met on or before the filing deadline. - A valid California Administrative Services Credential authorizing service at the preschool level OR a Child Development Program Director Permit
- An earned master's degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from a regionally accredited college or university
- 3.3 multicultural education coursework*
- Candidates have one year to complete this requirement
For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
