What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boat Attendant position at Los Gatos Community?
MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OLD AT TIME OF HIRE
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs day-to-day operation, maintenance and customer service at Vasona Lake Boat House and Dock
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following but no limited to:
- Assist in set-up and break-down of rental equipment
- Assist customers with rental agreements
- Provide safe boating instruction and general information
- Assist patrons on and off rental boats in a safe manner
- Monitor dock area
- Distribute life jackets and ensure proper usage
- Help to ensure patrons are following general rules of the lake
- Keep the boat center clean and orderly at all times
- Report unsafe conditions and equipment such as oars, life jackets, canoe seats, paddle boat peddles, etc. to supervisor
- Assist with the organization of games and daily boating activities
- Provide first aid in case of minor injury
- May supervise children in summer boating camp (Ages 9 – 15 years)
- May assist with organization of games and daily boating activities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Boat Attendant does not have supervisory responsibilities over employees. The Boat Attendant is responsible for supervising the participants/customers.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions and memos. Ability to write short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to children, parents and community members and other employees of the organization.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Fingerprint and TB clearance are
a condition of employment and must be obtained prior to start date. CPR/First Aid
certification and Mandated Trainings required, but may be obtained within 15 days of
hire date. IF under 18 years of age a valid work permit is required.
