Job Summary:

Forklift driver operates forklift to pull orders, load and unload trucks and rail cars.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Stages bins and drums in appropriate area for shipment.
• Cleans, inspects, and straps bins and drums as required by each customer.
• Attaches proper labels and stickers as required by each customer.
• Verify bin and drum numbers match those on the shipping documents.
• Ensures that drivers depart with appropriate paperwork.
• Verify truck drivers arriving for shipment have proper LGTP order numbers.
• Verifies trucks arriving for loading are properly parked at loading dock.
• Ensures that parking brakes are on and wheel chocks placed under rear tires.
• Trucks loaded away from dock, such as flat beds, do not require chocks, but loader must verify that parking brakes are on.
• Ensure that trucks requiring dock plates, such as containers, are properly positioned to receive dock plate.
• Remain constantly vigilant and aware of the surroundings to keep self and co-workers safe.
• Properly secures loads using appropriate dunnage.
• Ensure doors have seal(s) properly attached.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be certified as a forklift driver at Los Gatos Tomato Products and be recertified every three years.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Spanish not required but is a plus. Basic math skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability read and fill out paperwork, such as BOLs and receiving tickets.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply general knowledge understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
