Job Summary
A Laundry Attendant is responsible for providing a constant supply of clean linens for the entire hotel.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador and representative for the property, the Village of Los Ranchos, and Albuquerque
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards and anticipate and address guests' service needs
- Guest room laundry is to be conducted in a timely manner and to ensure the return of the items no later than the end of the day
- Before washing, ready linen by removing foreign objects
- Ensure that finished laundry has no wrinkles, tears, or stains - remove unacceptable products to a specified location to ensure only quality product is used in guest rooms
- Any damaged items to be logged for discard
- Maintain laundry area in a clean and orderly manner, check and clean lint traps daily on all equipment
- Maintain housekeeping and customer service standards by ensuring that towels, sheets, and linens are cleaned, ironed (if necessary); and stored properly
- Maintain an acceptable pace of work to ensure efficiency, and that inventory is maintained for guest needs
- Perform all duties in accordance with emphasis on meeting or exceeding guest expectations
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor
- Operate communications equipment or systems
- Inspect garments for defects, damage, or stains
- Sort materials or products for processing or storing
- Load articles into washers or dryers
- Start washers, dryers, or extractors, and turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes and the volume of soap, detergent, water, bleach, starch, and other additives
- Remove items from washers or dryer machines
- Sort and count articles removed from dryers, fold, wrap, or hang them
- Clean equipment
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Previous hotel housekeeping/Laundry experience
- Friendly, goal-oriented, and outgoing with great people skills
- Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills required
- Able to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team and independently
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, squat, reach, and walk 8 to 10 hours a day
- Able to grasp, lift, carry 40 lbs. in short intervals throughout the day
- Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to speak Spanish is a plus
- Interest in sustainability, food, and New Mexico culture
- Interest in organic farming, agriculture, art, and architecture is a plus
