Position Summary
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following : teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.

Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper / graduate level units earned, and / or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8). Typical Duties
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Photography at the college including :
- Studio Lighting
- Photoshop
- Lightroom and Bridge
- Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Photography classes in both digital and analog modalities
- Photo History
- Video capture
- Emerging technologies including drone operation and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence
- Darkroom
- Alternative and historical processes
Under the general direction of the Arts, Media and Entertainment (AME) division dean, the Photography instructor interacts with faculty and staff from several departments and divisions. The Photography instructor's primary responsibility is to teach beginning, intermediate, advanced photography classes with both digital and video capture techniques. These classes may be offered in a distance education format. The Photography instructor will use a learning and student-centered approach to assist in curriculum development and growth to meet the current and future needs of a rapidly changing professional environment. A strong candidate should also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The instructor will be responsible for staying current with both digital still and video capture applications including software and photographic principles. Extensive knowledge of photography theory and practices and an ability to utilize current industry standard photography applications. The candidate should have experience working in a learning environment and the ability to quickly and independently solve problems as they arise. They should be willing and able to learn new technologies in digital and video fields and related industries.
