Essential Job Functions :
Investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing processes or equipment; proposes and drives the implementation of solutions to identified processing or equipment problems
Improves process capability volume; maintains and improves quality standards; develops innovative solutions. Develops and implements operating disciplines that result in safe and efficient plant operation.
Evaluates manufacturing systems; proposes and implements improvements on processes or equipment as appropriate
Assesses processes; takes measurements; interprets data; tests new processes; proposes changes, updates, or other adjustments
Collects data required to make improvements and modifications as assigned
Uses scientific principles to determine process efficiencies
Ensures equipment works as specified and at appropriate capacities; drives the implementation of solutions when equipment is at less than appropriate capacity.
Uses simulation software when needed; establishes best practices for production methods
Maintains manufacturing reliability; improves production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers. Ensures that actions taken by operations enhances reliability.
Works with equipment designers and manufacturing personnel to develop cost-effective work production processes
Serves as mentor to lower- level engineers; assists with their training as required
Oversees work by lower-level engineers; provides feedback as appropriate
Assists in scheduling and coordinating work to meet tight deadlines; stays within financial budgets
Liaises with various engineers, planners, operations personnel, and other departments as necessary
Communicates regularly to plant operators, understanding and responding to their operational concerns and suggestions.
Collects, records, and transcribes data;
Maintains monthly, quarterly and annual operations report; delivers report to Production Manager
Evaluates process efficiency, quality and safety; makes suggestions for improvements when necessary; performs troubleshooting on plant equipment and systems
Investigates cause and effect of critical, emergency, and other shutdowns; analyzes data in advance of shutdown and after completion
Analyzes how process changes will effect overall production and product; implements process improvements to reduce cost and increase efficiency
Assists with project planning and project management; initiates small capital upgrades as requested
Provides suggestions during incident investigations as requested; advises on corrective actions
Researches new manufacturing technology; proposes updates as appropriate
Works safely at all times. Assesses safety and environmental issues as required; ensures safe working conditions and compliance with Federal, State and Company health and safety requirements.
Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety
Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position
Acts as leader to an assigned team of engineers; assumes delegated responsibilities of Production Manager in his / her absence.

Experience Requirement :
10 - 15 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in large, petrochemical plant operation
Extensive ethylene plant operations experience required for Cracker, extensive MEG plant operations experience required for MEG, extensive CAPEX experience required for CAPEX work
Ability to research best chemical plant practices; knowledge of plant safety, health, and environmental requirements for engineering and construction
Ability to read engineering, construction and other technical specs, drawings, schematics, plans, and similar documents;
Knowledge of and ability to understand complex government regulations and translate / incorporate requirements to chemical manufacturing plant
Ability to translate technical plans into easy-to-understand laymen’s terms and communicate such translations in clear terminology
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards in process engineering
Proactive and highly organized; detail-oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills a must
Time management and organization skills; flexibility; ability to work well in fast-paced environment
Analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking; solid understanding of main principles of engineering and manufacturing processes required
Comfortable with integrating new technology into an existing business environment
Experience working with Federal, state and local environmental regulations including RCRA
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization
Education Requirement :
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer certification a plus
Six Sigma certification a plus
