Stay on top of local and national news via multiple sources, especially developing stories.
Select and rewrite stories for air.
Edit all scripts for accuracy, timeliness, and proper usage.
Arrange newscasts, billboards, and other on-air content.
Present content live on-air in an authoritative and conversational manner that connects with local listeners.
Create unique, ear-opening content delivered creatively to boost audience ratings.
Oversee Social Media content during shift and ensure a presence on select platforms by creating and assigning content.
Be familiar with or capable of quickly learning NewsBoss & Adobe Audition news production software, and other news production software as well as automation systems as needed to ensure operation of radio broadcasts.
Knowledge of and ability to operate various broadcast software and broadcast equipment, inclusive of technical specifications of various studio environments.
Generate content for all platforms including broadcast, online, and social media.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and breaking news at all hours.
Develop story ideas, perform research, interview people, write, and present story ideas.
The Editor / Producer may also be assigned occasional anchoring and be asked to appear in public on behalf of the station.
Required Skills and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred. All candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a radio or television newsroom.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent live reporting skills.
Strong ability to interact professionally and build relationships and sources.
Strong research skills, including the ability to navigate online search engines.
Excellent understanding of Associated Press style book, and ability to adapt easily to our newsroom’s writing standards and practices.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :
Office environment, some repetitive motion required. May require some travel to station events; valid drivers’ license is required with a safe driving record.
Compensation :
65-75K, based upon experience.
