MTSS MATH INTERVENTIONIST (Grades 6-12)

Lotus School for Excellence is a K-12, college-prep public charter school with a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) focus.

Under supervision of the secondary school principals or assistant principals, the MTSS interventionist provides instructional and programmatic guidance and enhances the implementation of the MTSS process. He or she will support the data analysis process for econdary and recommend instructional strategies that will most effectively meet the needs of students. The duties of the MTSS interventionist are critical to the overall educational program and require effective and ongoing communication and collaboration with administration. During MTSS meetings, administration will incorporate regular discussions about the prioritization of MTSS interventionist efforts in alignment with the needs of the school.

Job Description:

The Math Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted academic support to students to enhance their learning and performance in mathematics. This position involves working closely with students, classroom teachers, and school leadership to ensure a positive impact on student achievement and alignment with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support:
  • Provide daily, in-person small group classroom support for students.
  • Deliver daily, in-person direct interventions to a designated student caseload.
  • Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused on individual student difficulties.
  • Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress during interventions.
  • Collaboration:
  • Provide daily, in-person support for classroom teacher(s) through push-in services.
  • Serve as a resource to administration and school leadership teams to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with other interventionists to provide high-quality instructional time, ensuring students progress toward grade-level proficiency.
  • Participate in collaborative discussions on student performance data to inform curriculum or instructional modifications.
  • Goal Setting and Monitoring:
  • Support the development of measurable and meaningful goals for students that align with school-wide objectives.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of the classroom curriculum to ensure alignment with intervention strategies.
  • Regularly review and pull reports using software such as Google Drive, i-Ready, and IXL to inform targeted intervention planning.
  • Professional Duties:
  • Demonstrate support for school and MTSS goals.
  • Recommend changes to intervention practices based on student data to increase achievement.
  • Complete additional duties related to academic interventions as assigned by the supervising principal.

Proposed Daily Schedule:

  • Morning: Small group classroom support and push-in services.
  • Midday: Direct student interventions and collaborative planning with teachers.
  • Afternoon: Data monitoring, report preparation, and participation in leadership discussions.

This role is essential in supporting student success and contributing to a culture of excellence within the school community.

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree
  • Experience with MTSS teams
  • 2 years as a teacher, with preference for experience as an Interventionist
  • Achieve Qualified English Language Arts Teacher status (teacher’s license not required) within six weeks of starting through one of the following channels outlined by the Colorado Department of Education:
  • A valid Colorado Teacher License in the applicable endorsement area;
  • Sufficient college coursework (or degree in the content area).

As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment. New hires are expected to begin this program during the 2024-2025 school year.

: Secondary Principal or Asst. Principal

: Full-time (186-day schedule)

  • $51,360 - $81,250 / year (BOE)
  • Participation in CO PERA program, including a PERA 401k contribution option
  • Funding of 100% of individual medical benefits and a wide range of insurance plans
  • Approximately 9 weeks of summer vacation, 4 weeks of school holidays/vacations, and 8 days of PTO annually

Pay: $51,360.00 - $80,250.00 per year
