The Used Car Manager is responsible for overseeing the pre-owned vehicle department. Their primary goal is to manage inventory, maximize sales, and ensure profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction. The Used Car Manager will work in collaboration with the Used Car, Variable, and Marketing Directors.
Duties:
- Sourcing and acquiring used vehicles through trade-ins, auctions, and wholesale purchases.
- Pricing vehicles competitively based on market trends and dealership objectives.
- Ensuring proper reconditioning and maintenance of used vehicles.
- Managing inventory turnover to minimize holding costs.
- Setting sales targets and ensuring the team meets or exceeds them.
- Training and coaching the sales team on product knowledge and selling strategies.
- Ensuring a positive customer experience and handling escalated customer concerns.
- Managing online listings and promotions to drive traffic and sales.
- Maximizing gross profit margins on used vehicle sales.
- Monitoring and adjusting pricing strategies based on market trends.
- Working with the finance department to structure deals effectively.
- Developing and implementing marketing strategies for used car sales.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
- One year of used-vehicle sales experience.
- Broad knowledge of all types of vehicles.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Professional personal appearance.
- Excellent communication and managerial skills.
