Position Summary:

Lou Fusz Ford of Highland is seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Service Technician to join our dynamic service department. As a member of Local 313, this union position offers excellent benefits, job security, and a supportive work environment governed by the standards of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), A.F.L. - C.I.O.

The Diesel Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment with precision and efficiency. This individual plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our customers’ vehicles.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related components including fuel systems, emissions systems, electrical and electronic controls, transmissions, brakes, and HVAC systems.

  • Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, fluid checks, and filter replacements.

  • Conduct vehicle inspections to identify mechanical or safety issues.

  • Use diagnostic tools and service software to troubleshoot and repair systems accurately.

  • Adhere to manufacturer and dealership service procedures, guidelines, and safety protocols.

  • Communicate clearly with service advisors and other team members regarding repair status and recommendations.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Stay current with technical training and certifications as required.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with diesel engines in a dealership or heavy-duty truck environment.

  • ASE Certification(s) in Diesel Engines or related areas highly desirable.

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical labor in a shop environment.

  • Must be a member in good standing, or eligible to join Local 313 IAMAW.
