Job Description
We are looking for a qualified Computer Technician to install, maintain and repair computers, networks, and associated peripherals. The Computer Technician will be required to execute both bench work and field work for business and residential customers.
You must be well-versed in computer systems, network functions and commonly used Software. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability to address issues and ensure functionality. An ability to track down solutions on the fly and attention to detail are an absolute must.
It is extremely important that Lou’s Computers is properly represented by its employees in both dress and speech.Our ideal candidate will possess a business appropriate physical presentation and attitude. We deal with our customers face to face every day both in our retail environment and at our customer’s business locations.
Responsibilities
- Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers
- Install well-functioning LAN/WAN and other networks and manage components (servers, IPs, APs etc.)
- Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
- Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
- Performs various duties depending on circumstances and current company needs
- Installs software and hardware systems, including new equipment, anti-virus programs
- Resolve malware and virus issues utilizing SOP’s at Lou’s Computers
- Repairs and maintains servers, personal computers, peripherals, and other technology equipment
- Works with team members to troubleshoot both complex and routine computer issues
- Performs one-on-one computer coaching on technology when necessary
- Communicates with individuals by phone, email and remote support to solve technical problems
- Stays abreast of current trends and technology and makes recommendations that will help a company keep up with technology standards in the industry
- Adapts quickly to changing circumstances, new standards, and requests by company management
Requirements
- Proven experience as computer technician or similar role
- Experience with LAN/WAN networks
- In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Very good communication abilities
- Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
- Well-versed in installing windows, software, applications, antivirus and patches
- Working knowledge of modern networking devices and printers
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand technical manuals
- Adept at repairing computer hardware including Windows-based PCs and Macintosh Apple platforms
- Proven ability to manage multiple troubleshooting tasks simultaneously while maintaining the quality of results
- Experience in backup and image management software
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
- Able to configure VPN and server/client side hardware and software
- Work efficiently without supervision
- Able to learn and relate technical concepts promptly
- Proficient in working with end-users remotely
- Familiar with active directory security and policies
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Good customer service acumen
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A ) will be an advantage
