As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within the Rabies Program, operating under general supervision and serve on a team of highly skilled environmental health professionals. Responsibilities will encompass a range of program areas, including but not limited to providing rabies disease control services to a diverse population.

Pass pre-employment criminal background check, fingerprint, and DMV checks.
Special Requirements:
As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within the Rabies Program, operating under general supervision and serve on a team of highly skilled environmental health professionals. Responsibilities will encompass a range of program areas, including but not limited to providing rabies disease control services to a diverse population.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Animal Bite Report investigations to comply with local and state codes.
- Provide public education for rabies disease control and prevention.
- Perform routine investigations of animal bites, including confinement and release of animals.
- Prepare animal specimens for sampling and provide follow-up of cases.
- Perform other routine environmental investigations, including being on a rotating on-call schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Pass pre-employment criminal background check, fingerprint, and DMV checks.
Special Requirements:
- Subject to recall/rotational on-call 24-hours a day, seven days a week as assigned.
- May be required to work during public health/County emergencies 24/7; and if so, may be assigned to a different location or asked to serve in a different capacity.
- May be required to work in an outdoor environment during varying types of weather (hot or cold).
- Must obtain and maintain active rabies vaccination status (pre-exposure series) when required for job-related duties.
Salary : $64,900 - $110,330
