Responsibilities
- Review and process patient billing information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems for proper medical billing.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation for all billing activities.
- Communicate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with medical terminology and coding guidelines in all billing practices.
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to patient accounts or insurance claims.
- Stay updated on changes in billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing or related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG coding systems, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare providers.
- Certification in medical coding or billing is a plus but not required.
